Joaquin Niemann Secures Fifth LIV Golf Victory in UK

Joaquin Niemann claimed his fifth victory of the season at the LIV Golf event in the United Kingdom, winning by three strokes. Niemann finished with a score of 17-under 196 after shooting a three-under 68 on Sunday at the JCB Golf and Country Club in Rocester, England. The win adds to his previous titles this season, which include victories in Adelaide, Singapore, Mexico City, and Virginia.

Niemann’s success on Sunday translated into a substantial payday, as he collected $4 million for his performance. The win comes on the heels of a challenging week for the player, having recently parted ways with his caddie and coach after missing the cut at the 2025 Open Championship. Despite his personal triumph, Niemann’s team, Torque GC, fell short in their pursuit of a team title, finishing behind Legion XIII, who secured their victory by achieving a remarkable 35-under total, eight strokes ahead of Torque.

As Niemann reflected on his performance, he downplayed his individual play, stating, “Well, I’m going to talk for the first two days because today I didn’t feel like I had my best.” He acknowledged the pressure he felt as his competitor, Bubba Watson, made a strong push, particularly during a stretch where Watson carded four birdies and two eagles from holes 9 to 14. Niemann managed to regain control after a key shot on the 15th hole, which he placed within five feet of the cup. “I was pretty happy to see that ball go in that close, and making that birdie I think was huge for the next three holes,” he added.

Watson finished the tournament in second place at 14-under after a third-round score of 65, while Caleb Surratt also performed well, shooting a bogey-free round and finishing at 13-under. Talor Gooch followed closely behind with a score of 11-under.

In team standings, Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm expressed his excitement after his team secured their fourth title of the season. “With all four scores counting this year I thought we played to our advantage. It showed early on and it’s showing now,” Rahm stated, highlighting the team’s consistent performance.

Among the other competitors, Australian golfer Cameron Smith finished in 10th place, nine shots off the lead. He was followed by Marc Leishman, who came in just a shot behind, while Lucas Herbert and Matt Jones finished in 34th and 40th places, respectively.

As the LIV Golf season progresses, Niemann’s continued success indicates his strong form, while Legion XIII’s collective effort showcases the competitiveness of team play in this evolving format.
