Lynx Dominate Aces 111-58 Despite Collier’s Ankle Injury

The Minnesota Lynx secured a commanding victory over the Las Vegas Aces with a score of 111-58 on March 9, 2024, but the win was overshadowed by an injury to star player Napheesa Collier. Collier sustained a right ankle injury during the final moments of the third quarter after an unfortunate collision with teammate Alanna Smith.

As the game approached its conclusion, Collier landed awkwardly on her right foot, prompting immediate concern from both players and fans. She remained on the court for several minutes before managing to walk off with assistance, eventually being ruled out midway through the fourth quarter. Collier had an impressive performance prior to the injury, contributing 18 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in just 26 minutes of play.

Despite the injury, the Lynx’s victory marked a historic moment in WNBA history. With a margin of 53 points, this win established the largest margin of victory on the road, surpassing the previous record held by the 1998 Houston Comets. At the time of Collier’s injury, the Lynx were leading by a staggering 43 points, highlighting their dominance throughout the match.

The team will now await further updates on Collier’s condition as they prepare for their upcoming games. This injury comes at a challenging time as she has already missed three games this season. The Lynx will need to assess her recovery to maintain their momentum in the league.

As the WNBA season progresses, the Lynx aim to capitalize on their strong performance and continue their climb up the standings, while Collier’s health will be a key focus for both the team and its supporters.
