Machinery Enthusiasts Gather for Australia’s Largest Heritage Rally

The 19th NHMA National Machinery Rally took place in Kingsthorpe, Australia, from August 23 to August 31, 2025. This event is recognized as the country’s largest display of working heritage machinery, showcasing over 500 exhibitors and a vibrant array of demonstrations that captivated visitors.

Celebrating Heritage and Community

The rally, part of the Steaming Under the Southern Cross event, was organized by local heritage groups, including Steaming on the Downs, TADOMS (Toowoomba and District Old Machinery Society), and the Queensland Vintage Machinery Association. Together, these organizations brought a rich tapestry of historical machinery to life, celebrating Australia’s agricultural and industrial heritage.

Attendees were treated to live demonstrations, including the traditional making of hay bales. This hands-on experience allowed spectators to witness the skills and techniques used in farming, providing a tangible connection to the past. In addition to hay bales, visitors enjoyed earthmoving and blacksmithing demonstrations, where skilled artisans showcased their craftsmanship.

Activities for All Ages

The event featured a diverse range of activities designed to engage participants of all ages. Children participated in tractor games, while families explored the grand parades that highlighted the impressive collection of heritage vehicles. Stump pulling and various competitions added to the festive atmosphere, ensuring there was something for everyone.

Vendors offered trinkets and mementos, allowing visitors to take home a piece of the experience. The rally not only provided entertainment but also fostered a sense of community, drawing together enthusiasts and families from across the region.

As the event concluded, it solidified its reputation as a cornerstone of local culture, celebrating the rich history of machinery and agriculture in Australia.
