Pierre Gasly has signed a contract extension with Alpine that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2028 season. The French driver, who joined Alpine in 2023, previously had an agreement that was set to expire in 2026. This new two-year extension reflects Gasly’s commitment to the team and its future in Formula 1.
Since joining Alpine, Gasly has made a significant impact, securing two podium finishes at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. His performance has solidified his position as a key driver for the team, particularly as Alpine prepares for a new era in Formula 1 starting in 2026.
In a statement regarding his extension, Gasly expressed his pride in representing a French team, stating, “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company makes me feel very proud.” He emphasized his belief in the team’s vision and goals, highlighting the support he has received from key figures within the organization.
Gasly specifically mentioned the backing from Flavio Briatore, Alpine’s executive advisor, as instrumental in his decision to stay. “Flavio’s support and belief in me, François’ commitment to the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision,” he noted. The driver reiterated his desire to contribute to the team’s objectives, which include winning races and world championships.
Briatore, who returned to Alpine in a leadership role, shared his enthusiasm for Gasly’s extension. He remarked, “Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team.” Briatore acknowledged Gasly’s contributions during a challenging period for the team and expressed confidence in their future together.
“We’re well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us well into the future,” Briatore commented. His admiration for Gasly’s attitude, dedication, and talent underscores the team’s strategy to enhance their competitiveness in the highly competitive world of Formula 1 racing.
With this extension, Gasly aims to continue his journey with Alpine, contributing to the team’s ambitions and solidifying his role within the sport. As the 2026 season approaches, both Gasly and Alpine look forward to what lies ahead, with high expectations for success on the racetrack.
