Tony Broardley emerged as the top player, finishing with an impressive score of 39 points. Close behind, Greg Moncrieff secured second place with 37 points, while Barrie Toms took third. In the non-veterans section, Jordon Smith recorded a par round, also scoring 36 points. Additionally, Moncrieff showcased his skills by winning the nearest the pin contest on hole 17.

Annual Christmas Celebration Highlights Achievements

Following the tournament, the veterans and Tuesday golfers combined to host their Christmas party and prize-giving presentation on Tuesday night. The event was attended by 45 members and guests, who enjoyed a delightful dinner prepared by the caterers at the local Sports Club.

Veterans’ Captain Dennis Norris led the presentations, beginning with a lucky door prize for the ladies, awarded to Jan Madden. The top golfer for the year was recognized as Dick Richards, with Norris himself securing the runner-up spot. Greg Nagle was named the winner for the most nearest the pins for the year, showcasing his consistent performance on the course.

Before the trophy presentation for the veterans, Captain Phil Thomas delivered a farewell speech to long-time residents and members, Bedde and Jan Madden, who are set to embark on a new adventure in 2026.

The perpetual trophy for the year was awarded to Ian Myers, with Greg Nagle taking second place. The prestigious Presidents and Captains trophy went to Graham Taylor, while Myers again claimed second place in this category.

In the holiday spirit, the Christmas hamper was won by Greg Moncrieff, with Phil Thomas finishing in second. The Jim McKeou Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Dick Gavel, was also awarded to Myers. Looking ahead, the veterans will hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 12:00 on Thursday, before another round of golf. Following the meeting, participants will compete for the Brian Piercy Memorial Trophy, featuring a four-ball aggregate stab format with a draw for partners and carts.

The tournament not only highlighted the competitive spirit among players but also fostered a sense of community and celebration within the Condobolin veterans’ golf association.
