Dataminers Reveal Potential for Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2

Capcom’s popular title, Monster Hunter Wilds, may soon make its debut on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Recent findings by a datamining group in China have uncovered a series of graphical presets for the game, suggesting that a port could be in the works for Nintendo’s latest console.

The discovery originated from a post on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, where the group shared a detailed spreadsheet via Google Sheets, showcasing various graphical options for Monster Hunter Wilds. These presets indicate that the game could support both docked and handheld modes on the Switch 2, allowing players to customize their visual experience.

Performance and Quality Settings

The datamine reveals that the docked mode may offer two distinct settings: a quality mode targeting 30 frames per second (fps) with enhanced graphics and a performance mode aimed at achieving 60 fps, albeit with reduced visual fidelity. While these findings are intriguing, it is important to note that Capcom has neither confirmed nor denied the existence of a port for the Switch 2. Thus, the information should be approached with caution, as the presence of these graphical presets does not guarantee a future release.

Despite the uncertainty, there is a growing anticipation surrounding Capcom’s support for the Switch 2. The console is set to launch with significant titles, including Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, alongside Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. This support indicates a strong commitment from Capcom to deliver engaging content for Nintendo’s new platform.

Ryozo Tsujimoto, series producer, confirmed during the Monster Hunter Showcase in December that the upcoming Title Update 4, which was released on December 16, 2025, would serve as the final major content update for Monster Hunter Wilds. This completion suggests that a Switch 2 port could coincide with a potential expansion, although such speculation remains unverified at this stage.

Challenges for Current Players

While the prospect of a Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds excites many, it may present challenges for current players. Those who have invested significant hours into the game may find it difficult to start anew on a different system. The game’s live service nature and the absence of cross-save support mean that migrating progress could be problematic.

Nevertheless, if Capcom develops a patch to enable cross-save functionality and ensures a stable performance on the Switch 2, players might be more inclined to purchase the game again. The potential for a seamless transition between systems could significantly enhance player experience and willingness to double dip.

As fans await confirmation from Capcom, the gaming community remains abuzz with speculation surrounding the future of Monster Hunter Wilds on the Nintendo Switch 2. With major titles on the horizon and continued engagement from developers, players are eager to see how the new console will shape their gaming experiences.
