Kia Unveils Vision Meta Turismo to Mark 80th Anniversary

Kia has introduced the Vision Meta Turismo, a striking concept car that celebrates the brand’s 80th anniversary. This innovative vehicle is seen as a potential electric successor to the popular Stinger model. The Vision Meta Turismo showcases Kia’s latest approach to its Opposites United design philosophy, combining a sleek, futuristic exterior with a lounge-inspired interior.

The design pays tribute to the elegance and speed of long-distance touring from the 1960s, while aiming to create a modern, smoke-free driving experience. Notably, the vehicle features whitewall tyres with a lower profile than what would have been typical in the past, emphasizing its contemporary design.

Innovative Features and Design

One of the standout aspects of the Vision Meta Turismo is its expansive windscreen, which extends beyond the traditional B-pillar. This design choice allows for ample natural light in the cabin, enhancing the overall driving experience. Inside, the driver is seated in a vibrant yellow fabric mesh seat, while critical information is displayed on a head-up display that occupies the lower section of the windscreen.

The car offers three distinct modes: Speedster, Gamer, and Dreamer. Each mode gamifies the driving experience by introducing goals, awarding points, and providing a global ranking. Additionally, a pair of smart glasses enhances this interactive experience, allowing drivers to feel as though they are floating above the road, devoid of the car’s interior.

At this stage, Kia has not disclosed specifics regarding the Meta Turismo’s drivetrain. The absence of visible exhaust tips and the notably short nose suggest that the vehicle is likely an electric model. Kia has indicated that full details will be revealed “in the near future.”

Kia’s Rich History and Future Prospects

The Vision Meta Turismo was unveiled during a special event celebrating Kia’s rich history. The company, originally founded as Kyungsung Precision Industry in May 1944, adopted the name Kia in 1952 when it began manufacturing bicycles. Over the years, Kia expanded its production to include motorcycles in 1957, trucks in 1962, and cars in 1974.

While the Vision Meta Turismo has generated excitement, it remains unclear whether there are plans for production. Previous reports hinted at the development of an electric Stinger successor, but later rumors suggested that this initiative may have been halted. As Kia looks to the future, the Vision Meta Turismo embodies the brand’s commitment to innovation and design excellence.
