Mongolia Pioneers 24/5 Blockchain Trading Model in Global Finance

Mongolia has launched the world’s first 24-hour, five-day-a-week (24/5) blockchain-based securities trading system, a significant advancement in the global financial landscape. This innovative trading model, powered by technology from the Mongolian fintech firm AND Global Group, allows for continuous trading in its over-the-counter (OTC) market, marking a historic milestone in capital market operations.

The transition to this 24/5 trading model was announced on September 12, 2025, during the “Mongolia’s Capital Market Connectivity 2025” conference held in Ulaanbaatar. Following a successful 18-month testing phase within the Financial Regulatory Commission’s sandbox environment, the blockchain trading system is now fully operational. It facilitates automated settlements that complete transactions in under a minute, enhancing the efficiency of trading operations.

Since the implementation of blockchain technology, secondary market trading activity has surged by 40 percent. This increase is attributed to the rapid, automated payment settlements the new system offers, which are expected to boost market liquidity further under the continuous trading schedule. The Mongolian Association of Securities Dealers (MASD) oversees the operations of the OTC market, while AND Global Group’s subsidiary, AND Denode, is responsible for the technology’s development and implementation.

The automation of payment settlements was achieved through a strategic partnership with the Mongolian Central Securities Depository (MCSD). By successfully integrating blockchain into its securities trading framework, Mongolia aims not only to make its domestic capital market more efficient and secure but also to contribute to the broader evolution of global financial innovation.

As the world looks toward enhancing trading mechanisms, Mongolia’s pioneering efforts may set a precedent for future developments in capital markets. The successful launch of this 24/5 trading model exemplifies how emerging technologies can redefine financial operations and improve overall market functionality.
