Queensland Students Invited to Apply for 2026 Energy Pre-Apprenticeship

High school students across Queensland can now apply for the 2026 Ergon Energy Network and Energex Pre-apprenticeship Program. This initiative aims to provide young individuals with a pathway into the energy sector through practical training and hands-on experience.

The program is designed for students who have a keen interest in pursuing a career in the energy industry. Successful applicants will gain valuable skills and insights into the operations of both Ergon Energy and Energex, which are critical players in the Australian energy market. This pre-apprenticeship opportunity is particularly beneficial for those looking to secure a position in the competitive job landscape of the energy sector.

Applications for the program opened on March 15, 2024, and will remain open until May 15, 2024. Interested students are encouraged to submit their applications promptly to ensure their participation. The program is targeted at students in their final years of high school, typically those aged 17 or older, who are looking to diversify their skills and enhance their employability.

Participants will benefit from a structured curriculum that combines theoretical learning with practical experience. The hands-on training provided in this program will equip students with essential skills required for various roles within the energy sector, including electrical work, maintenance, and customer service.

In addition to technical training, the program emphasizes the importance of workplace safety and environmental awareness, which are crucial components of the energy industry. By participating, students not only gain technical knowledge but also learn about the broader implications of energy production and distribution in modern society.

Ergon Energy Network and Energex are committed to fostering the next generation of energy professionals, aiming to create a skilled workforce that can adapt to the evolving demands of the sector. This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the need for specialized training in the energy field, particularly as Australia transitions to more sustainable energy solutions.

To apply for the pre-apprenticeship program, students must complete an online application form available on the Ergon Energy and Energex websites. Additionally, applicants may be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.

This program represents a significant opportunity for Queensland’s youth, as it not only enhances their skills but also contributes to the future of the energy industry in Australia. By investing in the education and training of young talent, Ergon Energy and Energex are laying the groundwork for a stronger, more sustainable energy future.
