Telstra Enhances Mobile Connectivity in Brooman Area

Telstra has announced an upgrade to its mobile base station serving the Brooman area, aiming to enhance the 4G and 5G user experience. The upgrades are set to improve the site’s capacity, resulting in faster download speeds, smoother streaming, and reduced network congestion for users.

The upgrade work will commence on February 19, 2024, and may temporarily disrupt mobile services in the area. Telstra’s Regional Engagement Manager, Christina Cawkell, emphasized the importance of mobile connectivity for Australians, stating, “As data use over our mobile network continues to grow, adding extra 4G/5G capacity to our mobile site in the area will help deliver faster downloads, smoother streaming, and less congestion for customers.”

During this upgrade period, Telstra will switch off the mobile site as needed, with efforts to minimize downtime. Cawkell reassured customers, saying, “We’ll only be switching off the site when we need to and will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible.”

Telstra customers will receive notifications via text regarding the impending upgrade work. Importantly, this disruption will not affect landline services, NBN, or satellite internet services, nor will it impact mobile coverage from other providers. In case of an emergency, calls to Triple Zero from a Telstra mobile will automatically connect to another mobile network if available, ensuring continued access to emergency services.

To mitigate the impact of the service interruption, Telstra encourages users to enable Wi-Fi Calling, a free feature on most smartphones that allows calls to be made over a Wi-Fi connection. This will enable users to continue making calls and sending texts during the service downtime.

Moreover, business owners are advised to discuss with their banks about connecting EFTPOS terminals to their NBN or Wi-Fi connections to prevent any delays in transaction processing.

As the upgrade progresses, users in Brooman can look forward to an improved mobile experience, enhancing their connectivity in both work and leisure activities.
