125th Berrigan Show Kicks Off with Lexus Melbourne Cup Visit

UPDATE: The 125th Annual Berrigan Show is set to begin this long weekend on October 5, 2025, featuring a special appearance by the prestigious Lexus Melbourne Cup. This iconic trophy, valued at an astounding $850,000, will be on display in Berrigan as part of its annual tour.

The excitement is palpable as the Victoria Racing Club Chief Executive Officer, Kylie Rogers, emphasized the significance of the cup’s tour: “The Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour is one of the most significant ways we can share the excitement and legacy of the Lexus Melbourne Cup with communities across Australia and beyond.” Attendees will have the rare chance to see, hold, and photograph with the nearly four-kilogram trophy, which last visited Berrigan nearly two decades ago.

“This milestone Berrigan Show will be one to remember,” stated the Berrigan Show Society Secretary, Lyndall Horne. The show will showcase a variety of racing-themed attractions, including hobby horse races, a spring racing hat parade, and Off-the-Track Equestrian classes featuring retired racehorses. Visitors can also participate in numerous Melbourne Cup-inspired competitions throughout the Pavilion.

With a sunny day forecast, the Berrigan Show promises a fantastic experience filled with family-friendly entertainment. The event will officially open at 12:30 PM with a ceremony led by Cassandra Bush, the Land Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman, followed by the much-anticipated Lexus Melbourne Cup presentation.

Berrigan Show Society President Neville Dalgliesh expressed his gratitude, stating,

“I would like to once again thank all our wonderful sponsors; without their generous support, we would not be able to run our show.”

The show will feature traditional competitions, sideshow alley, the return of the popular scarecrow decorating contest, the beloved Hay Ho Animal Nursery, free face painting, local musicians, a Kidz Zone, a Children’s Pet Parade, and Junior Show Goers.

Entry fees are set at $15 for adults, $5 for pensioners and children aged 10 to 16, while children under 10 can enter for free. Membership tickets can be purchased at the Berrigan Show Office until Friday at 5 PM. Every attendee will receive a ticket for the Lucky Gate Prize, with the chance to win a premium cabin for two nights at Kismet Riverside Lodge in Howlong.
