20-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Call to Violence at Cronulla

BREAKING: A 20-year-old man has been arrested on the Central Coast for allegedly inciting a violent retribution rally at Cronulla following the recent Bondi terrorism attack. This urgent development comes as authorities ramp up efforts to prevent violent gatherings in the wake of heightened tensions.

According to a statement from the NSW Police Force, detectives from the Counter Terrorism and Specialist Tactics Command detected a concerning social media post that called for protesters to gather at a Sydney beach with the intent to incite violence. The post was flagged on Monday, December 15, as part of Operation Shelter.

Police arrested the suspect at approximately 1:40 PM on Sunday, and he was taken to Gosford Police Station. He faces serious charges, including using a carriage service to menace, harass, and publicly threaten violence based on race or religion. He was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Gosford Local Court today, Monday.

Police have emphasized the illegal nature of the planned rally, stating that the organizer did not obtain the necessary authorization under the Summary Offences Act 1988. Without this approval, attendees could face charges for obstruction and unlawful assembly.

In a statement, authorities warned the public: “Anyone considering violence or vigilante behavior can expect a swift and decisive response from police.” They further urged the community to pursue peaceful means of protest and to report any suspicious activities to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.

This incident highlights the ongoing tension in the region, as the NSW Police Force calls for unity and healing in the community. They reiterate the importance of maintaining safety and inclusivity as Australia moves towards 2026.

As this story develops, the police continue to monitor social media for any similar threats and are prepared to take strong action against anyone engaging in hate-driven criminal activities. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any instances of hate crimes to ensure a safer environment for all.
