Adelaide University Launches New Career Path for Local Students

BREAKING NEWS: Adelaide University is set to revolutionize career paths for local students in the Limestone Coast, with a new program launching at the Mount Gambier Campus. Beginning in January 2026, this initiative will offer flexible learning options tailored to busy lives, helping students like Narelle Pignotti transition smoothly into vital educational roles.

Local resident Narelle Pignotti, currently pursuing a teaching degree at the University of South Australia, is eager to make the switch to the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) program. “I love the flexibility,” she stated, emphasizing how the blended learning format allows her to manage her full-time job while studying. This innovative approach combines on-campus tutorials with online content, giving students the ability to plan their studies around their work commitments.

After a successful career in events management, Ms. Pignotti returned to Mount Gambier during the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming for a more community-driven role. Now working as an executive assistant with the Department for Education, she felt inspired to pursue a career that would allow her to make a meaningful impact in early childhood education.

“I can adjust my study schedule based on my workload. It’s manageable and really supportive,” she shared, highlighting the advantages of local facilities. The Mount Gambier Campus has been instrumental in her academic journey, providing a welcoming environment that fosters connections with lecturers and peers.

In addition to her studies, Ms. Pignotti is also a dedicated student leader. She engages regularly with campus staff and the Student Association to create initiatives that promote student engagement and belonging. Her role on the Adelaide University Student Advisory Panel ensures that regional voices are included in shaping the future of the new university.

“I’m excited about what the new Adelaide University means for our community,” she said, expressing her pride in being part of this transformative initiative. The collaboration between the University of South Australia and Adelaide University aims to deliver world-class education and research, enhancing opportunities for regional students.

With the launch of Adelaide University approaching, students in the Limestone Coast can look forward to a campus that not only meets their educational needs but also strengthens community ties. As Ms. Pignotti stated, “Studying here has given me a real sense of pride — and purpose.”
