URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated Boys Oztag Gala Day is set to take place on November 9, 2025, at Vale of Ah Reserve in Milperra, Sydney. Organized by Metamorphosis Coaching, this event aims to inspire local youth through sports and character-building activities.
As excitement builds, Faz Rana, a respected figure in the Sydney Muslim community, leads the initiative alongside his wife, Jahida El-Assaad. With a packed schedule, Faz recently returned from representing Lebanon at the International Tag Federation tournament in Coffs Harbour, where his team reached the Grand Final, ultimately losing 2-1 to England. Despite suffering a broken hand during the match, Faz emphasized the importance of resilience: “That tournament was a real test… but you learn from it, you grow, and you come back stronger.”
Just weeks after his tournament appearance, Faz was appointed Deputy Principal at Unity Grammar, acknowledging his extensive contributions to education and student well-being. Balancing his new role, family life, and ongoing studies for a Master’s degree, Faz and Jahida remain committed to their community initiatives, showcasing their dedication to fostering growth in young people.
“This year’s Boys Oztag Gala Day continues our tradition, which saw over 300 boys participate in 2024,” Faz noted, underscoring the local demand for competitive and developmental opportunities for youth. The event promises not just athletic competition but also character development, with a focus on resilience and teamwork.
“Sport builds relationships, teaches discipline, and shows you how to handle setbacks,” Faz remarked, highlighting his dual mission as an educator and coach. The Gala Day is designed to instill these essential life lessons in all participants, ensuring they walk away with valuable insights about themselves and their peers.
Join the action on November 9, where young athletes will not only engage in Oztag but also grow as individuals. Special thanks to major event sponsors Human Appeal, Prime Cranes, and Care@metamorphosis for their support in making this event possible.
