Byron Bay Malibu Club Surges at Evans Head Malibu Classic

UPDATE: The Byron Bay Malibu Club (BBMC) showcased remarkable talent over the October long weekend at the 34th Malibu Classic in Evans Head. Enthusiastic participants of all ages took to the waves, competing fiercely for top honors and cash prizes.

The event drew participants from as far as Brisbane, with BBMC members achieving numerous podium finishes. This year’s competition featured professional judging, adding to the excitement, and included significant cash prizes for both junior and open divisions. Additional prizes, including surfboards, were awarded throughout the weekend, making it a thrilling experience for all involved.

The BBMC, recognized as one of the oldest longboard clubs in Australia, meets every second Sunday at Wategos Beach to continue its tradition of nurturing surf culture and community spirit. Club members are passionate about longboarding and the camaraderie it fosters, making events like the Malibu Classic a highlight of the surfing calendar.
