China-Malaysia Spring Festival Gala Launches with Cultural Fusion

URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated China-Malaysia Spring Festival Gala officially kicked off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on December 5, 2025, uniting cultures and celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year. This vibrant event, themed “Enduring as Water, Together for the New Year,” is designed to enhance the longstanding friendship between China and Malaysia.

The gala, guided by the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China, featured prominent officials, including Li Zhuang, Deputy Director-General of the External Promotion Bureau, and Zheng Xuefang, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. Both leaders emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and cooperation for a prosperous future, with Dato’ Mohd Yusri, Deputy Secretary-General of the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, highlighting the event’s spirit of harmony.

The festivities commenced with a spectacular performance by Malaysia’s National-Level Intangible Cultural Heritage High Pole Lion Dance Troupe, captivating the audience with dynamic movements and powerful drumbeats. The energetic display was complemented by the Twenty-Four Festive Drums, showcasing Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

In his address, Li Zhuang stated that the friendship between China and Malaysia is “as enduring as flowing water,” envisioning a future of collaboration as both nations approach the “Golden 50 Years” of their relations. Zheng Xuefang expressed hopes for increased strategic communication and cooperation, urging both countries to work together for regional prosperity.

The event seamlessly blended artistic performances from both nations, including the Universiti Putra Malaysia Chinese Orchestra’s “Flourishing Age,” the Malaysian Zapin Dance Troupe, and breathtaking acrobatics from the Xi’an Soldier Acrobatic Troupe. Notable performances like Dr. Wang Ping’s rendition of the classic folk song “Jasmine Flower” resonated deeply with attendees.

An engaging moment occurred when Malaysian influencer Qian Qian Long, boasting over 16 million followers, took the stage as the “China-Malaysia Spring Festival Ambassador,” sharing her experiences and fostering youth exchanges between the two countries. This interaction highlighted the event’s mission to build bridges through culture.

As the gala progressed, the symbolic “Ship of Friendship” was launched, representing the journey of China-Malaysia relations toward a brighter future. The excitement reached its peak with a collective performance of “Love Each Other,” a beloved Shandong provincial song, bringing participants together in celebration.

Looking ahead, the Shandong International Communication Center is set to launch the “I Want to Be on the Spring Festival Gala” audition campaign, seeking to discover local influencers and cultural ambassadors. This initiative aims to deepen the cultural dialogue between China and Malaysia while sharing unique stories from both nations.

The China-Malaysia Spring Festival Gala not only offers a cultural feast but also reinforces the commitment to mutual understanding and cooperation. With a lineup of engaging activities planned in the lead-up to the Spring Festival, this event is a testament to the enduring bond between the two nations.

As Malaysia and China celebrate this momentous occasion, the event showcases the potential for cultural exchange to foster lasting ties, paving the way for a prosperous future together. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
