UPDATE: The Australian Jewish community is in mourning after the sudden passing of prominent philanthropist Stanley Roth, who died on October 15, 2023, at the age of 67. Roth was a beloved figure known for his extensive charitable work and deep commitment to his community.
Tributes have poured in from various leaders, underscoring Roth’s profound impact. Gary Perlstein, president of UIA NSW, expressed that Roth’s death represents a devastating loss, stating, “There was no one with a greater heart or a deeper commitment to giving than Stanley.” His philanthropy was described as a reflection of his very identity, demonstrating an unwavering generosity that resonated deeply within the community.
Roth was actively involved in numerous organizations, including serving on the Combat Antisemitism Movement Advisory Board and the AIJAC Rambam Committee. Through the Stanley & Charmaine Roth Family Foundation, he supported various non-profits and charities that catered to the needs of countless individuals.
Perlstein highlighted Roth’s emotional connection to the community, particularly in light of the traumatic events following the October 7 attacks. “He loved Israel and the Sydney Jewish community as one loves a child,” Perlstein remarked, emphasizing Roth’s visceral bond with both.
