UPDATE: Construction has officially begun on a new kindergarten in Sunshine West, set to accommodate 66 children and enhance early childhood education in the area. This significant development was announced by Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn and Laverton MP Sarah Connolly during a site visit last month.
The kindergarten will be built on the same grounds as Ardeer South Primary School, making school drop-offs easier for families with children attending both the primary school and the new facility. Principal Andrea Markham expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This will provide a brand new facility for parents in the local community.”
The new kindergarten is part of the Victorian government’s “best start, best life” reforms, which aim to integrate early childhood education with primary schooling. Markham added that the on-site kindergarten will facilitate smoother transitions for children entering school, as it will foster early relationships with families and enable children to feel connected to the school environment.
The state government is expected to announce an approved provider for the kindergarten later this year, with plans for it to open in Term 1, 2024. Additionally, another kindergarten is set to be constructed at Glengala Primary School, which will open simultaneously.
This exciting initiative marks a critical investment in the community, ensuring that families have access to quality early education. The construction of these facilities demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing educational resources and supporting children’s development in Victoria.
As the construction progresses, community members are encouraged to stay informed about the developments, which promise to make a lasting impact on local families and children.
