Development Approved for New 95-Place Childcare Center Near School

BREAKING: Sutherland Shire Council has just approved the construction of a 95-place childcare center at 167-169 Burraneer Bay Road, directly adjacent to Burraneer Bay Public School. This significant development was confirmed on December 18 and is set to enhance local childcare options for families in the area.

The new facility will occupy a double block of land currently home to a single house, which is heavily vegetated and screened from view. The ambitious project, with an estimated cost of $5.8 million, will feature a state-of-the-art childcare center built above a one-level basement parking structure. Parents and staff can expect 24 parking spaces, including nine for staff and 15 for visitors, with access from Gannons Road.

Designed specifically for children aged 0-5 years, the center will operate from 7 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday. The development application highlights that outdoor play areas will be tailored to provide diverse surfaces and shaded spaces for children’s enjoyment, while maintaining a residential scale and appearance in the neighborhood.

The approval of this childcare center responds to the growing demand for early childhood education in the region, offering parents a much-needed resource in close proximity to their children’s school. As the site prepares for construction, community members are anticipated to benefit from enhanced childcare services and improved local amenities.

Authorities emphasize the project’s commitment to creating an engaging environment for young children, with plans for varied play spaces and a thoughtful landscaping design. This initiative marks a significant step forward for families in the Sutherland Shire, addressing both accessibility to quality childcare and the need for safe outdoor play areas.

Stay tuned for more updates as construction commences and the center prepares to welcome families in the near future. This is a developing story, and further details will be available as they emerge.
