Driver Charged After Serious E-Scooter Collision in South Kalgoorlie

UPDATE: A driver has been charged following a serious collision with an e-scooter rider in South Kalgoorlie early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred at approximately 4:45 AM on Edgar Street near Clive Street, left the 37-year-old man on the e-scooter critically injured and in urgent need of medical treatment.

Authorities from WA Police reported that the 30-year-old driver of a white Hyundai Getz allegedly fled the scene after the crash. The injured e-scooter rider was promptly transported to Kalgoorlie Health Campus for medical care, highlighting the serious nature of his injuries.

The driver, a woman from Victory Heights, is set to appear in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on September 22. She faces multiple charges, including failing to stop and ensure assistance was provided after the incident, which resulted in grievous bodily harm, as well as driving without a valid license and possessing a prohibited drug (methylamphetamine).

WA Police are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information about the incident to step forward.
