Eliza Hargreave Takes Charge as Senior Coach for 2026 Season

BREAKING NEWS: Eliza Hargreave is set to make her mark in netball as she steps into the role of senior coach for Rand-Walbundrie-Walla for the upcoming 2026 Hume League season. Hargreave, a two-time Thurgoona A-grade best and fairest winner, expressed her excitement and surprise at this new opportunity.

“I never thought I would be in this position, but it’s really nice that they have faith in me,” Hargreave stated. Her appointment comes after the club’s previous coach, Samara Trethowan, concluded her tenure. The Giants faced a challenging season, finishing in 10th place on the A-grade ladder.

Hargreave’s journey in netball began at the age of 14 at Lavington, continuing until 2015. She later played four seasons in the Tallangatta and District Netball Association with Thurgoona, where she earned a spot on the TDNA Team of the Year in 2024. Recently, she returned to the Ovens and Murray competition with the Panthers, gaining valuable insights under coach Sarah Meredith.

The new coach highlighted the importance of her experiences, stating, “I have learned so much this season… I wouldn’t be as confident in taking on the coaching role if it weren’t for my season at Lavington.” As a mother of three, Hargreave is excited to balance her coaching responsibilities alongside her partner, Tom Hargreave, who was also announced as the club’s senior football co-coach.

“It’s a big thing for both of us, but we’re really excited,” she said. Hargreave’s transition into coaching marks a significant step in her career, reflecting her growth from player to leader.

As she prepares for the upcoming season, Hargreave aims to instill her knowledge and passion for the game in her team. With the support of her partner and the community, she is ready to embrace the challenges ahead and make a lasting impact on the club.

Fans and players alike are eager to witness this new chapter in Hargreave’s career, with many expressing hope for a revitalized team performance in the 2026 season. Keep an eye on Rand-Walbundrie-Walla as they gear up for what promises to be an exciting year ahead!
