Europe and Ukraine Push Urgent 12-Point Peace Plan Amidst War

BREAKING: European nations and Ukraine have unveiled an urgent 12-point peace plan aimed at ending Russia’s ongoing war, according to Bloomberg News. The proposal seeks to establish a foundation for peace negotiations based on existing battle lines, with a peace board led by US President Donald Trump overseeing its implementation.

The call for immediate action comes as European leaders urged the United States to maintain pressure for a ceasefire, emphasizing that these current battle lines should dictate future discussions. Russian officials, however, have long insisted that Ukraine must concede additional territory before any ceasefire can be reached.

Under the proposed plan, Ukraine would receive vital security guarantees, funding for war damages, and a fast-tracked pathway to join the European Union. The initiative also envisions the return of all deported children to Ukraine and the exchange of prisoners once both Ukraine and Russia agree to ceasefire conditions and halt territorial advances. Notably, both Ukraine and European nations would refuse to recognize any occupied territories as Russian, despite ongoing negotiations regarding their governance.

This announcement comes on the heels of a postponed summit between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. A senior White House official confirmed that “there are no plans for President Trump to meet with President Putin in the immediate future.” This decision follows a productive phone call between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, which ultimately led to the postponement of a preparatory meeting originally scheduled for Thursday in Budapest.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov highlighted the lack of a clear timeline for the summit, stating that “serious preparation” is necessary and may take time. “Listen, we have an understanding of the presidents, but we cannot postpone what has not been finalized,” Peskov commented, emphasizing that neither president provided exact dates for a future meeting.

As tensions continue to escalate, the urgency of this peace plan and the stalled summit negotiations underline the critical need for resolution in Ukraine. The world watches closely as the situation develops, with the hope that diplomatic efforts can pave the way for peace.

Stay tuned for further updates as this story unfolds and developments arise regarding the peace proposal and potential meetings between global leaders.
