URGENT UPDATE: The family of Hayden Grainger, a 28-year-old man missing from Sydney’s eastern suburbs for four months, is intensifying their search as unconfirmed sightings continue to emerge across New South Wales. Hayden has not been seen since June 12, 2023, prompting his family to scour the streets of Sydney in a desperate bid to find him.
Brendan Grainger, Hayden’s father, revealed the family’s anguish in an emotional online appeal. “His mum and I have constantly searched the streets of Sydney for four months and come up with nothing,” he stated. “We have had no contact since June, which is concerning as we are all so tight. Hayden is a kind, caring, loving young man whose family and friends miss him so much.”
Concerns for Hayden’s mental health are rising as the weeks pass without any sign of him. “If anyone sees him, please take a photo and send it to me privately,” Brendan implored. “Please share this far and wide to all corners.”
Friends and well-wishers have been actively sharing the family’s pleas on community Facebook pages throughout the NSW coast. In a previous update, Hayden’s mother, Debra Grainger, mentioned a possible sighting in the Sydney CBD in September, but she is now expanding the search area. “With it getting warmer and his love for the beach, I thought I’d reach out further,” she noted. “Hayden has not done anything wrong; he is an amazing young man. It’s just extremely out of character for him not to be in contact with his family, so we are all really concerned.”
According to the NSW Police, Hayden was last seen at a supermarket in Martin Place around 8:30 AM on August 12, 2023. “When he could not be located or contacted, officers from the Sydney City Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts,” a police spokesperson confirmed. “Police and family have concerns for his welfare due to a medical condition.”
Hayden is described as having a thin build, approximately 180 cm tall, with brown hair and a beard. At the time of his disappearance, he was last seen wearing a black and tan flannel shirt, black pants, brown boots, a grey/beige beanie, dark glasses, and black and white headphones.
As the search continues, the family urges the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings to authorities or directly to them. The emotional toll of this situation weighs heavily on the Grainger family, who are steadfast in their hope of bringing Hayden home.
What Happens Next: The family is urging anyone with information to come forward, and police are actively investigating leads to locate Hayden. Community support is crucial as they continue their search, with updates expected as new information arises.
