Family of Six Escapes Early Morning Blaze in Burnside

BREAKING: A family of six narrowly escaped a devastating house fire in Burnside early this morning, thanks to their functioning smoke alarms. Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to the emergency call at 2:56 AM on October 24, 2023, arriving to find heavy smoke and flames engulfing the single-storey brick home on Fydler Avenue.

Firefighters worked swiftly to control the blaze, declaring it under control by 3:31 AM, approximately 35 minutes after their arrival. While the fire was contained to the building of origin, it inflicted significant damage to the property.

Two individuals suffered burns to their hands during the incident and were promptly treated by paramedics on the scene. The cause of the fire has been determined to have originated from a malfunctioning clothes dryer, according to FRV officials.

This incident serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of working smoke alarms in residential properties. The family’s quick response allowed them to escape without serious injury, highlighting the lifesaving potential of these devices.

As authorities continue to investigate the incident, community members are urged to check their smoke alarms and ensure they are in working order. Fire safety experts recommend regular maintenance to prevent similar incidents.
