Farm Tech Celebrates 50 Years of Innovation and Growth NOW

URGENT UPDATE: Farm Tech Machinery, a leading name in agricultural manufacturing, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Founded by Geoff Modra, the company has transformed from its humble beginnings in Papua New Guinea to a state-of-the-art facility in Wodonga, Australia.

The celebration highlights a remarkable journey filled with innovation, passion, and a commitment to quality. “I’m proud of what has been a truly fantastic journey,” Geoff stated, reflecting on decades of dedication. With a workforce that has expanded to 54 employees, the Modra family continues to drive the company forward, with sons Derek and Braddon taking on leadership roles.

The company specializes in all aspects of agricultural machinery, including design, metalwork, and hydraulics, maintaining a strong focus on local manufacturing. “We prove ourselves as a smaller family-owned business in a challenging industry,” Derek emphasized, highlighting their position amidst larger competitors.

Farm Tech’s growth is deeply embedded in the support it receives from the community. “We wouldn’t be here today without the support of our local foundational customers,” Braddon said, recognizing the importance of these relationships. The family-oriented approach fosters a unique bond with clients, transforming transactions into partnerships.

The emotional connection to the industry is palpable, with farming running in the veins of the Modra family. As Derek’s wife, Anthea, manages people and culture, the family ethos continues to thrive, with Derek’s three young sons showing early interest in the business. This dedication to family extends to their team, as seen with Engineering and Design Manager Charlie Burder, whose son Karl has recently joined, bringing an “unbelievable” skill set.

As Farm Tech celebrates this incredible milestone, Geoff’s legacy is clear. “Good people keep good people,” he remarked, acknowledging the amazing staff and industry peers who have contributed to their success. The heartfelt gratitude expressed by Derek and Braddon resonates throughout the company, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and community support.

The celebrations are set to continue, and the Modra family hopes to honor Geoff’s contributions while looking forward to a bright future. “I really hope Dad feels proud of what he has been able to achieve over these years,” Brad stated, reinforcing the family’s commitment to upholding the values that have driven Farm Tech for half a century.

Stay tuned for more updates as Farm Tech Machinery embarks on the next chapter of its journey, promising continued innovation and growth in the agricultural sector.
