Footloose Musical Returns to Melbourne: Get Your Tickets Now!

UPDATE: The beloved musical Footloose is back in Melbourne for an encore season, responding to overwhelming audience demand! Performances are currently underway at the Athaneum Theatre and will run until August 17. Don’t miss your chance to experience this high-energy show that promises to deliver both nostalgia and excitement.

Cairnlea resident and cast member Chad Rosete, who plays the role of Travis, reports that audiences are ecstatic. “A lot of people come up to us after the show and express how much they loved the movie. They say watching the musical brought back a rush of memories from their teenage years,” Chad shared.

The plot centers around Ren McCormack, a free-spirited teenager from Chicago who moves to the small town of Bomont, where dancing is banned. Determined to revive the joy of dance in the community, Ren’s journey becomes one of liberation and healing for the townsfolk still grappling with past tragedies.

Chad emphasizes the show’s electrifying energy, stating, “Footloose is a feel-good, up-tempo musical that rivals hits like Grease and Mamma Mia. Audiences can expect to leave feeling exhilarated.”

Having developed his passion for performance through childhood and later studying at the Australian Institute of Music and Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, Chad made his professional debut in Rent last year. He notes that this encore season has taken the production to new heights. “We’re building on what we had previously, and it’s becoming more refined and electric,” he explained.

Without giving too much away, Chad hinted at a surprise number that will thrill audiences, stating, “It’s a good surprise…I don’t think audiences will expect it.”
