Griffith Man Arrested for Firearms and Drug Offenses in Police Raid

UPDATE: A 22-year-old man from Griffith has been arrested and charged with serious firearms and drug offenses following a police raid at his home early this morning. The police operation, which took place at approximately 7:30 AM on August 6, 2023, resulted in the seizure of multiple unauthorized weapons and illegal substances.

Authorities conducted a compliance check on a residence located on Speirs Street. During the search, police reportedly discovered the barrel of a .22 rifle, a trigger, two firearm bolts, and a wooden stock. In addition to the firearms, law enforcement officials seized several resealable bags containing a white crystal substance, believed to be methylamphetamine, along with other bags containing an unidentified pink powder.

The man was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Griffith Police Station. He faces multiple charges, including possessing an unauthorized firearm, failing to securely store a firearm, and acquiring firearm components while subject to a prohibitions order. Additionally, he has been charged with failing to provide digital access to evidence.

The suspect has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Bail Court on August 7, 2023. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding firearms compliance and illegal drug activity in the region, prompting police to intensify their monitoring and enforcement efforts.
