URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated Quilt and Craft Show hosted by the St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Gisborne is set to take place this Saturday, October 4, from 9 AM to 3 PM. This event will showcase stunning handmade quilts and crafts created by the dedicated members of the Gisborne Craft Group.
Marion Place, one of the event’s organizers, promises an impressive collection that reflects the hard work of the crafters throughout the year. “Every second year we have a quilt show and some other crafts,” she stated. Attendees can expect to see quilts displayed over church pews and walls, adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
This year, the group has already donated an impressive 60 quilts to local charities, with a goal of distributing 150 to 200 quilts by year-end. Donations benefit the Gisborne and Kyneton foodbanks, the Salvation Army in Sunbury, and Catholic Care in Bendigo. Ms. Place highlighted, “We have a big distribution coming up in mid-November, just in time for Christmas.”
In addition to the stunning quilts, the show will feature various crafts and hands-on activities, including card making and beading. Refreshments such as morning tea and soup will be available, creating a welcoming environment for all visitors.
Crafters will be present to discuss their work and explain the charitable impact of the quilts after the show. This event is not only a showcase of creativity but also a testament to the caring spirit of the Gisborne community.
