BREAKING: Joyce Allen, a vibrant 90-year-old, took to the streets of Ashmont on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to celebrate her milestone birthday on October 1. Dressed in a blue tutu, Joyce fulfilled a dream she had shared just a year prior, riding around her neighborhood surrounded by family and friends.
In an emotional celebration, Joyce expressed, “I had said a year ago that I was going to have a ride on a motorbike and wear a tutu… I’ve done it now and I’m happy.” The atmosphere was filled with warmth as she received beautiful cards and heartfelt messages from her loved ones.
Joyce’s journey to 90 has been marked by her unwavering commitment to her community. Until last Christmas, she actively volunteered by playing music for nursing homes and helping others with daily tasks. “Just give, not take, and you’ll get back,” she advised, emphasizing the importance of giving back as the secret to a fulfilling life.
Born on a farm with ten siblings, Joyce’s family is the heart of her life. While she has lost seven siblings, two remain, with the eldest at 96 years old. Her four children, who reside in Queensland, were also present for the special occasion. Despite their encouragement to move closer, Joyce’s deep-rooted love for Wagga keeps her in the community she cherishes.
Joyce’s life philosophy is clear: “Just help people, don’t get bored, go and see somebody… if you’ve got anything to give, give it.” Her positive spirit and dedication to others shine through every word.
As a follow-up to her birthday festivities, Joyce will host another celebration on October 5 at the RSL Club for those who couldn’t attend, where she will cut a cake and continue the joyous celebrations.
This remarkable celebration not only marks Joyce’s 90 years but serves as a testament to the joy of living fully and giving back to the community. As she rides into her next chapter, Joyce Allen remains an inspiring figure, proving that age is just a number.
