With regular ruckman Jack Driscoll rested, Cook showcased his versatility in what is being hailed as one of his best performances this season.
Coach Adam Schneider praised Cook’s contribution, acknowledging Driscoll’s hard work throughout the year and highlighting Cook’s five-star display. “Jack has carried a big load, but Aidan Cook was very good,” Schneider stated.
The Panthers entered the match as strong favorites but faced a resilient Yarrawonga team that trailed by just two points at halftime. Schneider noted, “It was a scrappy first half, good second half. It was slippery conditions, and ‘Yarra’ played some good footy, but we managed to play our style in the second half.” Lavington turned the game around decisively, dominating the third quarter with an impressive score of 7.0 to 0.1.
In addition to Cook’s standout performance, Shaun Driscoll added three goals to the tally, following his return to form last week. Darcy Smith, also recalled for the match, matched Driscoll’s effort with three goals of his own.
