UPDATE: Lavington recruit Jayden Hucker has made headlines by gaining a remarkable 13kg in just one year, now weighing 95kg as he prepares to dominate the Ovens and Murray Football Netball League. Hucker, who stands at an impressive 201cm, has committed to a rigorous diet and weight training regimen to enhance his performance on the field.
Hucker’s transformation began after discussions with Graham Hart, Lavington’s football manager, and coach Adam Schneider, who advised him to return to Holbrook and focus on building muscle. “I was very determined to do it,” Hucker stated, reflecting on his commitment to improvement.
Adding two stone in a single off-season is exceedingly rare for a young athlete, but Hucker credits his friends and a dedicated eating plan for his success. “I had a mate join us at Holbrook last season, Parker Fox, who introduced me to certain foods during the last off-season, and I managed to put on 6-7kg,” he explained. Hucker continued to gain weight throughout the season, adding another 4kg.
His daily diet consists of a protein smoothie for breakfast, oats and protein yogurt for smoko, and beef with rice for lunch. Dinner varies between steak or schnitzel. “I’ve been flat out eating and flat out in the gym,” he added, highlighting his commitment to reaching his target weight of 100kg while maintaining his agility.
Schneider expressed confidence in Hucker’s potential, stating, “He’s still growing, and his focus was to put on some more kilos so he could compete with those bigger guys in the O and M. I’m looking forward to what he can do.”
Hucker, a junior from Holbrook, debuted at the senior level in 2023 and played for the Hume interleague team in July. He has participated in 61 games over three seasons, scoring 43 goals. Despite missing out on the Brookers’ drought-breaking premiership in 2022, he remains optimistic about future successes, stating, “Obviously, it was a bit of a heartbreak to miss out, but I went back and tried to help us win another.”
Last month, Osborne claimed its third consecutive flag with a 25-point win over the Brookers, but Hucker’s hard work paid off in one of his most significant performances against a powerful opponent, Dan Madden. “Putting on that weight paid off this year. I wasn’t getting pushed around as easily and was able to hold my ground more,” he concluded.
As Hucker continues his journey, the football world is keenly watching his development. Stay tuned for more updates on this rising star as he prepares to make his mark in the league.
