Madhi Girl Wins Fourth Straight in $125,000 Summer Scorcher

Madhi Girl wins the 2026 Summer Scorcher for jockey William Pike

BREAKING: In a thrilling finish, Madhi Girl has claimed her fourth consecutive victory, triumphing in the $125,000 Summer Scorcher at Ascot just moments ago. The race, featuring a field of sprightly contenders, saw Madhi Girl expertly navigated by jockey William Pike, who positioned her perfectly before unleashing a powerful surge in the final stretch.

The tension built as several sprinters vied for the lead, but none could match the pace set by Desert Whisper at $4.60. Madhi Girl, the favorite at $2.20, found her stride rounding the home bend, seamlessly slipping through a gap. With just 200 meters to go, she propelled ahead, finishing a head in front of Jaz Session ($8.50), further solidifying her earning total to over $500,000.

Trainer Simon Miller expressed his satisfaction with the strategy leading to this victory, stating, “We came up with the play after winter that we’d give her exactly the amount of time off to hit two trials and go straight into this.” This win marks a significant milestone for Madhi Girl, now a stakes winner after previously being stakes placed.

In a compelling twist, Miller revealed the backstory of ownership, highlighting Teleah Hulse, who quietly secured the horse. “Hats off to her; it’s a great result,” Miller added, acknowledging the efforts of his team, especially Siobhan O’Donnell, who has worked diligently with Madhi Girl.

Looking ahead, Miller has ambitious plans for Madhi Girl, aiming to test her stamina in the upcoming Miss Andretti Stakes (1100m) and Scenic Blast Stakes (1200m). “I want to hit 1200m third-up just to see if she gets it,” he mentioned, hinting at a potential shift in training strategy.

In another exciting development earlier today, Luvnwar ($3.30) secured her first Group-level win in the La Trice Classic (1800m). The Kiwi-bred mare showcased her strength under jockey Clint Johnston-Porter, pulling wide at the 600m mark and overtaking Secret Attraction ($19) in the final moments.

Owner Bob Peters expressed his satisfaction despite having to adjust his carnival ambitions. “Today, she was quite dominant,” he stated, reflecting on her journey and the challenges faced in previous races. “This is one that Liam (Peters, grandson) found, and she’s taken a while.”

Both victories highlight the resilience and determination of the horses and their teams, capturing the attention of racing fans and ensuring further excitement in the weeks to come. Stay tuned for more updates as these remarkable athletes continue to develop their legacies in the racing world.
