UPDATE: Maitland speedway driver Daniel Cassidy is set to take his racing ambitions to a new level after a monumental victory at the 2025 Australian AMCA National title held in Lismore. The triumph has propelled Cassidy into a high-stakes campaign in Western Australia, where he aims to secure the prestigious Late Models WA and Late Models Nationals titles on the weekends of March 6-7 and March 13-14.
This historic win, Cassidy’s first Australian title, marks a significant milestone not only for him but also for his family, who have been deeply involved in speedway racing since the 1990s. “Winning an Australian title for the first time was a massive moment for my whole family,” Cassidy stated. “What made it even more special was that my dad had tried so many times to win this title in the AMCA Nationals.”
Cassidy, 29, will be joining the CTM Recruitment Racing team, owned by Rob Wells, as he competes in one of the most competitive fields in Australia. “I’m really looking forward to joining the CTM Recruitment Racing team and tackling one of the biggest fortnights of the season,” he added. “I’m heading over to be a front-running contender every night.”
The upcoming races will take place at the Perth Motorplex, a renowned venue for speedway competitions. Cassidy is confident as he transitions to a Masterbilt car, similar to his family-owned vehicle, receiving direct technical support from the Masterbilt team in the United States. This familiarity gives Cassidy a boost of confidence as he prepares for the challenges ahead.
Beyond Western Australia, Cassidy has a packed schedule leading to the season’s end, including the Australian title on May 2-3 at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway in Queensland. This track has been a successful ground for him, having secured the 2025 Late Models Queensland title there.
Cassidy’s journey to success this season began when he accepted an opportunity to race the AMCA National owned by Mark and Kylie Eveleigh. The Eveleighs’ new car, built by Cassidy’s father, made the decision easy for him. His impressive performance culminated in winning the annual Andrew Walker Memorial at Grafton Speedway during the Christmas-New Year period, setting the stage for his confidence leading into the Australian title.
The emotional weight of his victory at Lismore cannot be overstated. Cassidy faced several challenges throughout the weekend, including health issues and car troubles, but his determination prevailed. “To still be able to come out on top and claim the Australian title certainly made it all the more satisfying,” he remarked.
As Cassidy prepares for this next chapter in his racing career, the speedway community will be closely watching his performance in Western Australia. The stakes are high, and with the support of his new team, Cassidy is ready to make his mark on the national stage once again.
Stay tuned for updates on Cassidy’s ongoing journey and the upcoming races that promise to deliver thrilling action on the speedway.
