Major Drug Bust: $15 Million in LSD Seized in Australia

BREAKING: A stunning drug bust has just taken place in Australia, resulting in the seizure of 750,000 LSD tablets worth a staggering $15 million. This operation, one of the largest of its kind in the country, marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against drug trafficking.

The Victoria Police announced the seizure following a two-year joint investigation with US Homeland Security. Officers executed search warrants on Wednesday, February 14, at residential properties in Mount Martha and Wollert. The operation also uncovered 60 grams of LSD crystal and approximately $45,000 in cash alongside $50,000 in cryptocurrency.

Authorities were alerted to the alleged drug importation scheme by US officials, who initiated the investigation in September 2024. This collaboration led to the identification of a suspect in Victoria, prompting extensive surveillance and analysis. Notably, police intercepted about 120 individual postal parcels, containing over 35,000 tabs of LSD, destined for various locations both within Australia and internationally.

Detective Superintendent Dave Cowan emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking, stating,

“Victoria Police, alongside our law enforcement partners, has zero tolerance for those bringing harm to our community by importing and trafficking drugs of any type. We will continue to target these syndicates in any and every way possible.”

Two individuals have been charged in connection with this massive operation. A 35-year-old man from Mount Martha faces multiple counts, including exporting a commercial quantity of border-controlled drugs and trafficking a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence. He is scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 24. Additionally, a 44-year-old woman from the same area has also been charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence, and she will appear in court on February 16.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking. This major bust not only highlights the ongoing battle against drug importation in Australia but also underscores the critical role of international cooperation in combating organized crime.
