UPDATE: A 39-year-old man has been charged with multiple offenses after allegedly assaulting six people in a Bassendean library and nearby shopping center in Perth’s northeast. The incidents occurred on Tuesday, with police confirming that the assaults took place within a rapid 30 minutes.
Authorities report that the man first struck at the Bassendean Library on Old Perth Road around 4:30 PM, where he assaulted three individuals: a 64-year-old woman and two men aged 47 and 39. The woman and one of the men were later transported to Midland Hospital for ongoing medical treatment due to their injuries.
Just moments later, at approximately 4:55 PM, the suspect allegedly attacked a 33-year-old woman in the car park of a shopping center on West Road. The assaults continued inside the center, where he reportedly assaulted a 60-year-old man and a 22-year-old security guard.
The suspect, identified as an Embleton man, was apprehended and charged with serious offenses including aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault, and possession of stolen property. He also faces charges for breaching bail conditions. Following his court appearance on Wednesday, he will remain in custody until his next hearing scheduled for January 20, 2026.
