In a thrilling match that saw City snatch victory in injury time, this win marks their first points in the tournament this season.

The clash turned dramatically when Buriram’s Serbian midfielder Goran Causic scored in the 72nd minute, putting the Thai club ahead and leaving City fans anxious. However, with Socceroos coach Tony Popovic in attendance, City rallied back. Captain Aziz Behich set up substitute Elsaban Rashani, who equalized in the 84th minute, igniting hopes for a turnaround.

In a nail-biting finish, young striker Max Caputo delivered the decisive blow, scoring the winner in the 97th minute. This dramatic finish not only highlights City’s tenacity but also revitalizes their campaign, placing them back in contention for the knockout stages of the tournament.

City now sits at three points, positioned seventh after two losses and today’s crucial win, while Buriram trails in eighth by goal difference. With five matches remaining, City is back in the hunt for a spot in the round of 16, where eight of the twelve teams in the eastern division will advance.

The match featured several tense moments, including an early offside goal by Buriram’s Zulj, and City goalkeeper Patrick Beach making critical saves to keep his team in the game.
