Over 36,000 Americans Safely Evacuated from Middle East

The U.S. Department of State has successfully facilitated the return of over 36,000 American citizens from the Middle East since February 28, 2023. Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Rubio, the department has organized more than two dozen charter flights, ensuring the safe evacuation of thousands of Americans from various countries in the region.

As commercial flight availability improves, the Department of State continues to operate charter flights and ground transport options for those who need assistance. Currently, the number of available seats on these charter flights exceeds the demand from American citizens in the Middle East. Many individuals have chosen to leave on commercial flights instead. Notably, most Americans who have sought assistance have declined the options provided, opting either to remain in their host countries or secure their own travel arrangements.

The Department’s 24/7 Task Force has been instrumental in providing direct assistance to over 23,000 Americans abroad. This includes offering vital security guidance and travel assistance tailored to each individual’s circumstances. American citizens located in Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Israel who are in need of travel assistance are encouraged to complete the Crisis Intake Form.

The Department of State remains committed to helping any American citizen who wishes to leave the Middle East. For those seeking assistance, they can reach the U.S. Department of State at +1-202-501-4444, available around the clock.

In light of this ongoing situation, it is crucial for American citizens to stay informed about their options and the resources available to ensure their safe return home. The Department continues to monitor the situation closely and will adapt its operations as necessary to meet the needs of its citizens abroad.
