Parkes Shire Council Approves $20,000 for Trundle ABBA Festival

BREAKING NEWS: Parkes Shire Council has just approved a funding boost of up to $20,000 from the Trundle Town Improvement Reserve to reignite the highly anticipated Trundle ABBA Festival this May. This urgent decision follows a request for financial support from festival organizers presented at the council’s monthly meeting on February 17, 2023.

Mayor Neil Westcott expressed enthusiasm for the community-driven revival, stating, “Deciding to continue the festival is a really tremendous thing.” Councilor Bill Jayet echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the progress made and his full support for the allocation. Councilor Marg Applebee also joined in the excitement, revealing she has already secured her ticket.

The festival is set to feature a spectacular World Record Dance Competition to the iconic song Dancing Queen. Trundle’s main street will transform into a lively dance floor, inviting everyone to participate in this unique attempt. “You don’t need to be a professional dancer. You don’t need perfect rhythm,” organizers assured via social media. They encourage festival-goers to learn the easy choreography at home, emphasizing that every participant is welcome regardless of skill level.

In a fun twist, organizers have released a practice video set to the drum beat of Dancing Queen, providing an opportunity for attendees to prepare in a relaxed environment. “Whether you’re nailing every step or happily freestyle swaying, you’ll be part of something special,” the festival team stated.

The festival aims to foster community spirit and joy, with enthusiastic participation expected from local residents and visitors alike. This year’s event promises to be a glittering celebration, marking a significant cultural moment for Trundle.

As excitement builds, festival organizers encourage everyone to join in the festive spirit and prepare for a memorable experience this May. Keep an eye on the Trundle ABBA Festival Facebook page for updates and practice videos that will make learning the dance fun and engaging.

Stay tuned for more updates as the festival approaches, and don’t miss out on the chance to be part of this unforgettable event!
