UPDATE: The Perth Lynx delivered a stunning performance, defeating the Bendigo Spirit 79-64 on October 15, 2023, marking a dramatic turnaround after their recent loss to Geelong. Coach Ryan Petrik hailed the victory as the team’s best offensive showing of the season, igniting excitement among fans at the Perth High Performance Centre.

The Lynx responded decisively to their midweek defeat, showcasing their energy and skill. They unleashed an impressive 28 points in the third quarter, their highest scoring period of the year, allowing them to extend their lead to a remarkable 20 points.

Key players stepped up in this crucial match. Amy Atwell scored 21 points and netted four three-pointers, while Alex Ciabattoni contributed 16 points, including 12 in the pivotal third quarter. The team’s defense also shone, with Anneli Maley dominating the boards with 16 rebounds and adding 12 points.

Reflecting on the game, Petrik noted, “That was much, much, much better. The defense has been adequate to above average, especially for us. But the offense has been dead last in the league.” He acknowledged that adjustments were necessary and praised the players for their response.

With 22 assists and only eight turnovers, the Lynx showcased a more streamlined and effective offensive strategy. “We had tried four or five things to fix it, and on the fifth or sixth attempt, we found something that triggered it,” Petrik added.

Additionally, Ally Wilson made headlines by debuting a custom-made mask and receiving WNBL life membership in recognition of her recent milestone of playing 250 games. Her ten assists were crucial in securing the victory.

The Lynx are also preparing for the arrival of Chinese star Han Xu, with Petrik emphasizing the need for the team to build a cohesive game plan. He stated, “They were too unpredictable, they were too rushed, they weren’t from inside our system, so no one knew when they were going up.”

As the Lynx celebrate this significant win, they aim to maintain their momentum in the league, focusing on improving their offensive strategies to avoid being at the bottom of the league stats.

Stay tuned for further updates on the Lynx’s upcoming games as they seek to build on this decisive victory!
