BREAKING: Peter Moyes Anglican Community School in Mindarie, Perth, has just set a new world record for the largest gathering of people wearing party hats, with a staggering 1,381 participants on the school oval. This exciting event surpassed the previous record of 1,161, held by a school in the UK.
The record-breaking celebration marks the school’s 25th anniversary and reflects its vibrant community spirit. Principal Benjamin Lomas expressed his joy, stating, “Today is a joyful celebration of learning, growth, and community at Peter Moyes Anglican Community School. What better way to mark our anniversary than by bringing together students, staff, and community in a world record attempt – with party hats and plenty of colour. We’re making history – and having a lot of fun doing it.”
The event, which took place earlier today, involved students and staff donning colorful party hats, creating a lively atmosphere. Adjudicators from St Gregory’s Anglican Church and students from Mindarie Senior College were present to verify the attempt. The school will submit the necessary data and drone footage to Guinness World Records for official confirmation.
In addition to the record attempt, the day featured the unveiling of the school’s time capsule, first sealed in 2000. The capsule was opened by Allan Shaw, the foundation principal, who traveled from Victoria to participate in this significant occasion.
Since its opening in 2000 with just 246 students, Peter Moyes Anglican Community School has grown to accommodate over 1,600 students from pre-kindergarten to Year 12.
This momentous achievement not only highlights the school’s growth but also fosters a sense of unity and pride among students, staff, and the greater Mindarie community. As they await confirmation from Guinness World Records, the excitement and joy of this achievement resonate throughout the school.
Stay tuned for more updates as the school prepares to celebrate this historic milestone!
