URGENT UPDATE: Pilbara photographers are called to action! The Spirit of the Bush photo competition, organized by Rural Aid, is now open for entries until August 31, 2023. This national competition invites photographers to depict the resilience and beauty of rural life, especially significant following a challenging year marked by floods, fires, and drought.
John Warlters, CEO of Rural Aid, emphasized the importance of this competition by stating,
“Every year, we are humbled by the entries we receive, each photo is a tribute to the unwavering spirit of our farming families and communities.”
This year, the competition aims to remind Australians of the grit and determination that sustains rural areas during tough times.
Photographers can submit their high-resolution landscape images showcasing the essence of the bush. A panel of judges will select ten winning entries, each receiving a $250 prepaid Visa card. The winners will be announced on September 15, 2023.
Warlters added,
“This is a celebration of the people and places that make our regions special. Whether it’s a hardworking farmer, a storm rolling across a paddock, or a quiet moment at sunset, every image has the power to connect Australians with the bush.”
Last year, local photographers Tamara Ward and Debbie Cristinelli were celebrated for their winning images, which featured in the 2025 Spirit of the Bush calendar.
Entrants can share their photographs on social media by tagging @ruralaid and using the hashtag #SOTB2025. Full competition details and terms can be reviewed at https://www.ruralaid.org.au/spirit-of-the-bush/.
Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your talent and highlight the spirit of rural communities!
