Pro-Palestinian March Authorized on Sydney Harbour Bridge

URGENT UPDATE: The NSW Supreme Court has just ruled that a pro-Palestinian march across the Sydney Harbour Bridge will proceed this Sunday, October 15, 2023, despite police objections. This decision allows thousands to gather and protest against the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza, amidst reports of severe humanitarian conditions.

The court’s ruling, delivered by Judge Belinda Rigg, comes after NSW Police sought to prevent the demonstration, citing safety concerns including potential crowd crushes. In a powerful show of unity, five Labor MPs, including Lynda Voltz and Stephen Lawrence, joined 15 other NSW parliamentarians in supporting the march. The Palestine Action Group has warned that any police attempts to suppress the protest could lead to “a potential for violence,” asserting their commitment to the right to peacefully protest against the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
