Sky News Unveils Major 2026 Revamp with New Opinion Formats

BREAKING: Sky News is set to transform its programming lineup starting January 19, 2026, introducing a range of new opinion formats and reporting enhancements aimed at bolstering its presence across Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. This major revamp comes as the channel prepares for a pivotal year that includes crucial elections and significant global events.

The network will launch weekly opinion programs during prime time, including The Bond Report hosted by Caleb Bond every Friday at 5:00 PM. This show promises to deliver insightful commentary on the week’s most pressing issues. Following this, Opinionated, a new half-hour debate show hosted by Danica De Giorgio, will air at 8:00 PM, featuring editorials from contributors both locally and internationally.

De Giorgio will also step into the Sunday 7:00 PM slot with her new digital series, Danica Goes Global, which offers an Australian perspective on global news highlights. Additionally, the channel will debut The Macpherson Angle at 8:00 PM, hosted by James Macpherson, aimed at delving deeper into current public discussions.

Sky News is launching Sky News Pulse in partnership with YouGov, set to release national polling every second Wednesday. This initiative, led by chief election analyst Tom Connell, will focus on vital issues affecting Australian households like cost of living and immigration.

Expanding its digital content, the popular Power Hour will now feature four weekly episodes, introducing a new format called Power Hour Deep Dive. This series, hosted by Gabriella Power and rotating co-hosts, will explore major international stories in-depth, moving beyond the daily news cycle.

In a significant boost to its reporting team, Sky News has appointed Jonathan Lea as national affairs correspondent, focusing on economic and social issues. Jaynie Seal will serve as the regional correspondent, addressing the concerns of local communities and hosting the investigative series State of Health, with the premiere episode set to air in February.

The network is also enhancing its U.S. coverage, assigning Annelise Nielsen as a Washington analyst and welcoming Jonathan Kearsley as a Washington correspondent, positioning itself for comprehensive coverage of the upcoming American election cycle.

In addition to its revamped programming, Sky News Weather has expanded its team, adding meteorologist Tamsin Green to enhance audience engagement. This move aims to elevate the channel’s weather coverage, which is increasingly integrated into live news broadcasts.

Sky News will also commemorate significant political milestones with documentaries, including a special hosted by Chris Uhlmann on the 30th anniversary of John Howard‘s prime ministership and a piece by Paul Murray on the 250th anniversary of American independence.

As Sky News gears up for this transformative year, the changes signal a commitment to delivering timely and relevant content to its viewers. Stay tuned as we monitor these developments and their impact on news consumption across the region.
