Sunbury Netball Association Celebrates Three Award Nominations

URGENT UPDATE: The Sunbury Netball Association is in the spotlight as it clinches finalist spots in three prestigious categories for the 2025 Netball Victoria Volunteer Awards. Notably, May Crotty has been nominated for Coach of the Year, while Melissa Lofts is up for Community Volunteer of the Year. Additionally, the Net Set Go program has earned recognition as a finalist for Net Set Go Centre of the Year, highlighting its remarkable growth.

The announcement, made earlier today, showcases the dedication of the volunteers who power the Sunbury Netball Association. Crotty, a dedicated coach since 2018, has poured her passion into nurturing athletes both on and off the court. Her unwavering commitment has made a significant impact on the club and its players.

Lofts’ nomination reflects her tireless contributions to the community. Her efforts have been instrumental in ensuring that Sunbury Netball continues to thrive and engage young players. The Net Set Go program, held every Saturday morning at Eric Boardman Stadium, has seen its participation double over the past year, a testament to the hard work of the volunteer coaches and organizers.

“Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Sunbury Netball Association; they give their time because they love the kids, the game, and our community,” said Amanda Azzopardi, Vice President of the association. “To see May, Melissa, and our Net Set Go program recognized at this level is a fantastic achievement.”

The winners of the Netball Victoria Community Awards will be announced on October 19, 2025. This recognition not only elevates the profile of the Sunbury Netball Association but also inspires continued growth and community engagement.

As excitement builds, registrations for the upcoming term four of the Net Set Go program are now open. Sessions are scheduled to run every Saturday at 9 AM at Eric Boardman Stadium.
