Tesla Rolls Out FSD V14: Major Upgrades for Self-Driving Cars!

UPDATE: Tesla has just launched its highly anticipated FSD V14, marking a significant upgrade in self-driving technology after 311 days since the last update. Currently being installed on a limited number of consumer vehicles, this new version promises groundbreaking advancements in autonomous driving capabilities.

The official build number for this release is 2025.32.8.5, and it comes with a substantial increase in download size—from approximately 4GB to around 12GB. Tesla aims to enhance the driving experience for users with several key features that could redefine safety and convenience in urban environments.

One of the standout features is the introduction of Arrival Options, allowing drivers to customize parking preferences, including options such as parking in a Parking Lot, on the Street, or at the Curbside. This flexibility is expected to be a significant improvement for FSD users.

Moreover, the software upgrade enhances its response to emergency vehicles. The system will now automatically pull over or yield for police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances, a vital upgrade for the practical use of autonomous vehicles in real-world scenarios. Such features are crucial as Tesla gears up for the potential rollout of its robotaxi service.

The navigation and routing capabilities have also received a major boost. FSD V14 now incorporates a vision-based neural network that enables real-time handling of blocked roads and detours, helping drivers reach their destinations more efficiently.

Tesla is also introducing an additional Speed Profile, offering users a choice among Sloth, Chill, Standard, and Hurry driving styles. This feature, previously unavailable in Australia, is anticipated to add a new layer of customization to the driving experience.

The update also improves the handling of static and dynamic gates, which are essential for navigating gated communities and workplaces. As Tesla continues to refine its software, effective handling of road debris—like tires and tree branches—has been highlighted as a critical enhancement. This feature is expected to ensure that future robotaxis can safely navigate urban landscapes without being hindered by obstacles.

Other welcome improvements include enhanced management of unprotected turns, lane changes, vehicle cut-ins, and school bus interactions, all aimed at bolstering safety. Furthermore, FSD V14 enhances system fault management, enabling smoother recovery from degraded operations—vital for reliability in autonomous driving.

In addition, the new software version incorporates an alert for residue build-up on the interior windshield that may affect camera visibility. This feature prompts users to visit Tesla Service for cleaning, leveraging Tesla’s advanced computer vision capabilities.

Omar from @WholeMarsBlog shared the comprehensive release notes on social media, sparking excitement among Tesla enthusiasts.

As this rollout continues, Tesla’s FSD V14 is expected to set new standards in autonomous vehicle technology. Keep an eye on updates and user experiences as the wider deployment unfolds.
