Three Arrested in Prahran Nightclub Affray; Victim Injured

UPDATE: Three men from the Casey area have been arrested in connection with a violent affray outside a nightclub in Prahran, escalating concerns about public safety in the vicinity. Police confirmed the arrests, which took place during a coordinated operation early today, August 21, 2023, following a shocking incident that left a victim injured.

The altercation occurred on August 8, 2023, just after 11 PM, outside a nightclub located at the intersection of Little Chapel Street and Malvern Road. A 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a group of males, prompting swift intervention from security personnel. They managed to assist the victim inside the venue, where the assault reportedly continued before the suspects fled the scene.

The victim received treatment for minor injuries at the location, but the incident has raised alarms among local residents and authorities. In a decisive response, police arrested a 28-year-old man from Narre Warren the following day, charging him with multiple offenses including two counts of affray and possession of a controlled weapon. This man was already on bail for a prior incident involving an attack on July 27, 2023, at the same location.

Detectives from the Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit, with support from various task forces, executed four search warrants across Berwick, Clyde, Narre Warren, and Weir Views starting at 6 AM today. During these operations, the 21-year-old man from Clyde and the 41-year-old man from Berwick were apprehended. The Berwick resident was located in nearby St Kilda shortly after the warrants were executed.

Police have seized mobile phones and clothing believed to be relevant to the investigation, demonstrating their commitment to resolving this case swiftly. Both the 21-year-old and 41-year-old men face charges of affray and failing to provide police with access to electronic devices. They are expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today via audio-visual link.

The 23-year-old man from Narre Warren, who was also arrested, has been released pending summons. The swift actions of law enforcement underscore the urgency of addressing violent incidents in public spaces, as community safety remains a top priority.

As this situation develops, authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The impact of such violent encounters extends beyond the immediate victims, affecting the sense of security within the community. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story.
