UPDATE: In a thrilling finish, Tom Kitten has made history by becoming the first-ever dual winner of the All Star Mile, clinching the prestigious $2 million race at Flemington on Super Saturday. This remarkable victory, which took place earlier today, solidifies his status as one of Australia’s top gallopers after repeating last year’s stunning performance.

Ridden by Craig Williams, the $3.90 second favorite surged ahead in the final stretch, overtaking early leaders Pride Of Jenni and Evaporate. With a powerful push, Tom Kitten took the lead at the 200-meter mark, showcasing his stamina and strength to ultimately win by a neck.

Williams praised the meticulous training efforts of Anthony and Sam Freedman, noting, “They’ve obviously spent a lot of time with his barrier manners.” He added, “It’s hard against Jenni, isn’t it? Because we haven’t got Brightside now, if you can’t beat them, join them, I thought.” The jockey highlighted the importance of Tom Kitten’s preparation, saying he felt the horse was “in that winning zone” before the race.

In a strategic decision, Sam Freedman mentioned that instead of continuing to the Australian Cup, they are now eyeing the Doncaster Mile as the next target for Tom Kitten.

In other racing news from today, Caballus triumphed in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap, leading throughout and securing a victory by a head over Gallant Son. Craig Newitt, who rode Caballus to victory, celebrated his record fourth win in this historic race, stating, “It’s probably the most historic race in Australia at the moment – apart from the Melbourne Cup.”

Newitt expressed his emotions after the race, saying, “10 years since my last one, so it’s been a while, and I’ve been sitting on equal leader of the most Newmarket wins. I’m very honoured.” He managed to control the race from the front, ensuring his horse maintained a comfortable rhythm, ultimately allowing him to cross the finish line first.

As the day unfolds, racing fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on Tom Kitten’s future plans and the implications of these thrilling victories on the upcoming racing calendar. Stay tuned for more breaking news as it develops.
