Trump Names Murdoch Family in Urgent TikTok Deal Discussion

UPDATE: President Donald Trump has just revealed that billionaires Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, along with tech titan Michael Dell, may play key roles in a groundbreaking deal to bring TikTok under U.S. control. This revelation comes from an interview recorded on Friday and aired on Sunday on Fox News, highlighting a fast-evolving situation that could impact millions of TikTok users in the United States.

During the interview, Trump stated, “I hate to tell you this, but a man named Lachlan is involved. Lachlan is, that’s a very unusual name, Lachlan Murdoch.” He added that his father, Rupert Murdoch, is also expected to be part of the group. Trump emphasized the potential of this coalition, saying they are “really great people, very prominent people” and “American patriots” who will do a “really good job.”

This announcement marks a significant twist in ongoing negotiations aimed at securing TikTok’s future in the U.S. amid rising concerns over data security. Currently owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, TikTok has faced scrutiny from American officials regarding its algorithm, which they warn could be manipulated by Chinese authorities to influence content.

The urgency of this deal escalates as Trump revealed Oracle founder and CEO Larry Ellison is also involved, continuing discussions that began with a phone call between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday. The deadline for U.S. and Chinese officials to finalize the details of this deal is December 16, following an extension granted by the Trump administration.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Oracle would oversee TikTok’s data and security, with Americans controlling six of the seven planned board seats. However, many details of the deal remain unclear, raising questions about its structure and implementation.

As negotiations progress, the stakes are high, with TikTok’s fate hanging in the balance. The platform’s immense popularity among U.S. users makes this deal not just a business transaction but a critical moment of national interest.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on this developing story, as the involvement of the Murdoch family and other prominent figures could reshape the social media landscape in America.
