Tweed Valley Hospital Expands Parking by 130 Spaces—Urgent Relief Ahead

BREAKING NEWS: Tweed Valley Hospital is set to alleviate chronic parking frustrations for visitors by adding 130 new free car parking spaces. Local company Alder has been appointed to initiate the much-anticipated expansion, which will boost overall parking capacity to over 1,300 spaces.

This urgent project comes in response to numerous complaints from visitors struggling to find parking since the hospital’s opening in May 2024. A distressed visitor recently shared an alarming encounter with security staff, highlighting the emotional toll of parking challenges during critical family health situations.

The new parking spaces will primarily occupy a grassed area south of the existing multi-level car park, which has limitations for larger vehicles. Additionally, upgrades will enhance existing parking areas with new signage, line marking, and improved management systems. The project will unfold in stages to minimize disruption for patients, staff, and visitors, with completion expected by the end of 2025.

The expansion is a collaborative effort led by the Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) in partnership with Health Infrastructure. Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “These works will boost capacity on-site, improving access to the hospital and vital health services for the local community.”

Minister for the North Coast Janelle Saffin echoed the sentiment, noting that the hospital serves a busy community that relies on quality healthcare. “We trust this additional free parking will ensure a better experience for patients, their families, and our dedicated staff,” she added.

As construction progresses, updates will continue to be shared with the community, ensuring everyone is informed. This development is crucial for improving access to healthcare services in the Tweed-Byron region, offering immediate relief to those who have struggled with parking since the hospital’s inception.

Stay tuned for more updates as this project unfolds, and share this news to keep the community informed about the positive changes ahead at Tweed Valley Hospital.
