Urgent: 7,000 CommBank Customers Affected by Major Outage

BREAKING: An urgent outage at Commonwealth Bank has left at least 7,000 customers without access to crucial online banking services. This disruption began shortly before 12 PM AEST on Thursday, affecting the bank’s mobile app and various ATMs across Australia.

According to a Commonwealth Bank spokeswoman, the outage lasted for approximately one hour before services began to be restored. “We apologise and thank customers for their patience,” she stated. As of 2 PM AEST, the bank confirmed it was actively working to reconnect affected systems.

In a post on X, the bank reassured customers, stating, “An issue today affecting some of our services is currently being fixed.” Despite ongoing restoration efforts, many users took to social media to express their frustration, reporting lingering issues with accessing banking services.

The outage was significant enough to peak at 7,114 reports on Downdetector just after noon, with over 700 ongoing reports still being logged shortly before 2 PM.

Commonwealth Bank, which boasts over 17 million customers and is Australia’s largest bank, recently announced a record net profit after tax exceeding $10 billion for the 2024/25 financial year.

As the situation develops, customers are urged to stay updated on the bank’s official channels for real-time information. This incident raises concerns over the reliability of banking services that are essential for daily transactions.

Stay tuned for further updates on this breaking situation as it unfolds.
